Sick and Twisted comes to mind when just trying to pronounce the name Necrophagia, an appropriate description for this six piece of murderous maniacs from New Orleans! Throughout the years Necrophagia has been widely revered as one of underground Metal's most notorious gore bands, although this latest release finds them in a not too distant, yet different direction.
Fans of the "old stuff" will most likely say that Necrophagia's earlier releases are better, however, fans that aren't as familiar with the band's previous material should find this latest album to be exactly what a metal album should be!
Cold, dark, eerie, and most of all, EVIL! The overall vibe of TDAOT is very grim indeed. From the opening track "Blaspheme the Body" to the closing track "Ze Do Caixao" the listener finds himself trapped in an almost uncanny, unholy carnival of pain.
Production wise, this album is perfect. Not too polished, not too clean, purely raw, unkempt, and unsettling, exactly as it should be. At times it sounds as if the guitars are clipping the speakers as the rhythm takes it's chokehold, and achieves a uniqueness that few other bands could ever hope for.
This album certainly isn't for everyone, only for those who consider themselves as having great taste in pure metal. Seek this one out...
